  • In this all-encompassing four-week program, you'll embark on a journey learning how to run a studio session using real-world experience. Learn from multi-platinum sound engineers Matthew DeFreitas and Illusion, who will provide a window into the constantly evolving world of the music industry. You will be learning everything from sound equipment to Protools and applying that knowledge in the Grammy award-winning Bay Eight recording Studios Miami. You will master the use of world-class analog equipment, diving deep into the sounds and functionalities that make these tools the top choice of professionals. This program offers a 360-degree view of studio operations, making you proficient in the basics of a studio session while providing an inside view of the music industry.

  • In this intensive program, you'll undertake four weeks of in-studio workshops to go from basic to an adept studio professional. This program takes you further into the ProTools landscape, covering everything from effective tracking techniques to exporting dry and wet stems. You will delve into the art of customized audio mixing, focusing on client-specific needs and mastering industry-standard plugins and techniques. You will have the opportunity to run an actual studio session with real artists. This program offers a full-spectrum understanding of the technical side of being in the studio, teaching you how to manage a session while impressing your clients.

  • In just 4 weeks, learn how to become a professional songwriter. Starting from the basics of identifying and working with different parts of a song to creating melodies, this course will have you writing a song in no time! With our multi-platinum songwriters instructing you, you will learn how to write emotive lyrics utilizing poetic devices and rhyming structures. Through collaboration during your studio workshop time, you will begin to craft dynamic melodies with melodic contour and structural tones. This course relies heavily on your participation and experimentation. While learning the proper structure of a song, you will be learning exactly how to write a song that could thrive in the music industry.

  • Get hands on with the creation of a song! In this 4 week program, you will learn how to record a demo. Step into the vocal booth and learn the proper ways to record vocals in a studio session. You will work hand in hand with studio engineers to learn how to advocate for your song while learning professional studio etiquette. You will learn the power of mixing and mastering while getting to play with effects and AI to step your demo up to another level. Throughout the entirety of the course, you will be working in a real studio clocking in real session time. Bay Eight’s team will show how to effectively manage the business side of a song including split sheets, publishing, licensing, royalties and so much more. By the end of the course, you will hold the creative power to create your own hits!

  • Upon acceptance, applicants have the opportunity to participate in a three-month internship at Bay Eight Recording Studios in Miami. This immersive program is designed to accelerate your development as an audio engineer. The first month you will master the intricacies of studio operations, from invoicing and scheduling to maintenance and interactions with major labels. In the second month, you'll transition into the studio to shadow engineers, producers, and songwriters during live recording sessions, gaining hands-on, practical experience. The third month serves as the ultimate stress test where select students will manage actual sessions with real clients. Developed over the past seven years, this internship program is a tried-and-true system designed to cultivate top-tier engineers by providing them with real-world training.

  • This advanced apprenticeship program is designed exclusively for promising individuals who excel during the internship phase. In this paid role as a support engineer, you'll undergo an intense, comprehensive training program alongside a senior engineer. The goal is to elevate you into the upper echelon of high-performance audio engineers. You'll gain hands-on experience by assisting in sessions for major record labels with the mentorship of our seasoned senior engineers. This program aims to cultivate talents that meet the high demands and fast-paced environment of major recording studios.

  • Matthew “The Formatt” DeFreitas is an RIAA multi-platinum sound engineer and owner of the Grammy award-winning Bay Eight Recording Studios Miami. With over 20 years of experience in the music industry, his expertise transcends mere theory—it's the kind of knowledge you can only earn in the trenches of the industry. Matthew stays at the heart of the music industry, constantly in the big rooms with major recording labels and mixing and mastering for your favorite artists.

  • Alvin Anthony is a Billboard charting songwriter/ producer averaging over 50 million streams a year. With over 10 years of experience in the music industry in various roles - songwriter, producer, engineer and artist, his knowledge is unique and insightful. As a writer, Alvin is constantly in the studio writing and producing for the world’s biggest artists such as Pitbull, Lil Jon, and Saweetie

  • Jacob “Catalyst” Catalano is a decorated American Producer, Audio Engineer, and Drummer who specializes in Pop, Funk/R&B, Hip Hop, and Rock. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Jacob quickly found his footing in the music industry. He is currently a Senior Engineer at Bay Eight, having worked with premier artists such as Post Malone and with major labels such as Interscope, Columbia, Def Jam, and many more.
